DESCRIPTION

Xtreme Robot Destruction is a button bashing, metal grinding, arena battler where players are free to smash, ram and saw their way through opponents using their chosen bot. A vertical slice for the PlayStation 4 was created by a team of 29 in pre-production and 17 in production, using Sony's Phyre Engine.

 

My role was to create the game world lore and narrative given a brief that described a dystopian future for humanity where they gathered on factions and fought for their future with robots.  I created five factions with lore based on archetypes: outlaws, explorers, scientists, sages and warriors. Above them all, there would be a privileged faction named the Elite that provoked wars between factions because it wanted their extinction.  They'd fight for the most valuable resource, the water, in the only remaining glaciers in the world: the Antarctica. I provided visual details on the life style, locations, clothes each faction would wear, you can see a sample here.

MICRO - THE MOBILE VERSION

The business team decided to start the project of a mobile-companion video game for mobile that would be around a simpler fighting mechanic and add use of geo-location and Augmented Reality as the other main pillars of the game. I participated in prototyping gameplay for AR with different tools like Vuforia and Wikitude and testing geotagging with locations around. M.I. Universe: The realm of the kaleidoscope

DESCRIPTION

​It is an episodic story-driven action adventure-puzzle game. Players can start their quest with any available episode. In order to discover their original design, players must collect the keys of from the 9 realms, escaping from the agents of the dark-masters facing challenges and defeating the mysterious sages, where each realm is developed in an episode.

 

Every episode will be different but will keep the discovery of patterns and narrative as constant.  The realms match each of the proposed multiple intelligences according to Gardner. The first Episode implemented happens in the realm of Visual Spatial intelligence which is named The Realm of the Kaleidoscope where we need to defeat the Queen Prisma.

Below you can see an example of concept art, screenshots from gameplay, UI Flow and a summary of the GDD and level design document. The biggest challenge was working with students or volunteers from all around the world with a limited production time of three months. There is a video of the gameplay here and it has not been distributed on the market yet, but there is apk available on request.

ASTRAL SWITCH

DESCRIPTION

It is a single screen puzzle platformer based on oriental folklore. You play as Pema, a monk in training under the wise Dojo Master. Pema has the unique ability to fire her spirit out of her body as an "Astral Projectile". Any enemy hit with this projectile will switch positions with Pema, teleporting her to the new spot, and her enemy to her old spot. Using this Astral Switch ability, Pema must recover all of the scrolls stolen from her Dojo by the evil Oni. Published on Google Play.

My roles were programmer in Cocos2DX and C++. Added environmental VFX for the different level themes: petals, leaves and rain.
